What's the most romantic thing your SO has done for you that is automotive related?

B_Dol's post got me thinking.

When my wife and I were first courting she set up a tour of the Lingenfelter factory for me. This fell apart because between the time she scheduled it and my birthday, he had his famous heart attack :( But it's the thought that counts.

She got me a subscription to road & track, but it was actually for her nephew as he was selling the scrips as a fundraiser for school.

I an not very into newest cars & stats and all, so I just said thanks & look at the pictures when they come in. I finally have her trained not to expect anything from me on any holidays or birthdays, and she has learned not to get me anything either.

my GF at the time washed my wheels while I detailed my car. I didn't trust her with polishing and waxing the paint.

Kinja'd!!!

These bad boys. each spoke and surface covered in shitty shitty brake dust. That's also why I switched to ceramic and 5 spokes.

acknowledges that she knows I love my car more than her and doesn't get mad about it.. My refusal to do dishes on the other hand, well what can I say.

Well, first and foremost she is supportive of my Motorsports hobby. She bought me a door handle for the Monte as a Valentines day gift after we went out on a date and the door handle came off in my hand.

Also she helps out in the garage on my projects and can hold her own when she works on her own stuff. She knows how to wrench and only calls for my help when is absolutely stuck. One time I had asked her to run an grab an extra gallon of coolant and she came back with coolant and an 86 Monte Carlo SS hot wheels. She says they had them at O'Reilly's but I've never seen them there, part of me thinks she ordered it for me and was just waiting on the right time to spring it on me. I was so happy.

It is truly wonderful to have a partner who loves my hobby as much as she loves me.

Where to start... basically everything we do is automotive-related.

He helps wrench on my wretched, possessed XJ

He bought me a HiLift jack and 2 recovery D-rings for Christmas, and Blipshirts whenever he sees one I might like :D

He got me a puppy (named Chevy!)

He doesn't complain about my stupid expensive car/bike hobbies, enjoys them himself, and is the biggest supporter of my career (auto industry) I could ever ask for.

He bought an engine block and we turned it into a sweet coffee table for our new house

He's already helping me plan out (fancy spreadsheets are involved) all the stuff to do on my new car... it won't even be assembled at the plant until next week

We're planning a bunch of fun road trips, track days, etc this summer

TL;DR: My life and SO are stupid awesome

But the most important thing she has done is develop an interest in my passions, tolerate car discussion and even warm up to shared ownership.

Maybe I'm just an ass.

It just seems like when she tries to get me something, it's not what I would have picked. So just let me buy stuff for me.

Yeah, I get that. If it works for you guys and she doesn't care about that, then you're good. I expect my SO to get me stuff all the time and read my mind, so that's why I'm single. :/

Last year for my BDay, car ramps and a wheel stand. This year, a creeper and a rolling stool. And a Bike Jack and a seat belt belt with the Dodge logo in the release button. One day I should let her know what she has been getting me....
